The first step for a mage/warlock/wizard/etc before seriously handling magic is to be self-aware of their aether-body, or soul (or aether-soul).
This aether-body is their grasp on magical abilities. Magic is commonly known as the visible effects (in the material world) of actions done on the aether-mass of material things.
For example, a fireball is spontaneous combustion that is orchestrated from the Aether. A wizard would have to send a fragment of their aether-soul towards the target point. That fragment has a simple "program" that sends compresses air, separates hydrogen from humidity water and ignites it.
A strong aethereal presence usually makes a magician more powerful (it gives more potential, not necessarily power or strength). Their aether-body might be more or less flexible and have certain affinities with their bodies.
## Analysis of the different schools of magic using one's aether-soul as medium of action
- Abjuration: extending one's soul to interact with other entities' aether-soul actions, such as blocking their spell or canceling their interaction with matter.
- Conjuration: Speaking with ethereal beings, so using your aether-soul to communicate. Changing ether into matter and vice versa (seems quite powerful lore wise).
- Divination: you sense perturbations in the ether with your aether-soul. Using one's aether-soul as a sensor.
- Enchantment: affecting someone else's soul inner dynamics
- Evocation: affecting material world from the ether by extending your soul. Creating matter from soul-mass.
- Illusion: matter-less evocation? haha
- Necromancy: Imbuing stuff with aether-soul shards (like mechanical partial aether-souls) to make them do your will.
- Transmutation: Affecting some matter's characteristics through aether manipulation. It basically affects both the soul-mass and matter of the thing acted upon.
# Different actions on mass and aether-mass
1. Conversion (mass $\iff$ soul-mass).
2. Inflation-deflation of aether-mass (or mass)
3. Deformation (changes the shape, both of mass and aether-mass)
4. Aetherical movement (in and out of Aether)
- themself (aether walk), others (banish, summon)
5. sever, cut, pierce
6. paste
- Mass: mend
- Soul: healing
7. fuse or separate aether-mass and mass (not the same as 5.)
- Infusing life to inanimate objects (also, necromancy).
