#topographie/montagne The world is a cyclical hypercube in 4-D (+time): horizontal (2D, NWSE), vertical, [[the Aethereal dimension and the magic system|aetherical]] (front<->back). The world as a whole is called space-Æther-Time. ## horizontally Horizontally, the world lives as a cyclic square. In other words, if you walk at the edge of the world, you only "reappear" on the other side. There's no portal or anything; the world is *just like that*™️. It's continuous. Yes, if there was no mountains, you could see yourself towards the horizon. ![[cube horizontal mapping.png|800]] ### the world is a doughnut Mathematically, this is equivalent to a torus. A doughnut. I'll mention it forthright: an inhabitant of the world wouldn't feel the curvature of the torus. If you want to visualize the torus, think of connecting the pink lines together in the above figure. You'll have a cylinder. Then, connect the yellow lines in the above figure. You end up with a doughnut. But again, we had to curve space to have a doughnut. The world I speak of is not curved. What about the up and down, then? The red plane corresponds to the filling of the doughnut. It's the bottom of the world. The blue plane is the roof of the sky, with "stars" and the "sun". More on this right away. ## vertically ![[cube sun point and void line mapping.png|800]] Vertically, it also loops, but with special conditions. You couldn't actually reappear at the bottom if you fly high enough. Unless you squeeze in an infinitesimally small hole, that is! See [[1. The origin of the world]] for more details on why that is. Look at the figure below. At the lowest point vertically (beneath the ground), everywhere on the red plane (except on the blue void line) warps at the sun-point, which is in the sky. So the sun and the bottom of the world are one and the same. Said otherwise, if I could teleport at the sun, I would see a point in which, if I was small enough (i.e. infinitesimally), I could pass in to appear at the bottom of the world, somewhere into the magma. ![[cube soleil mapping.png|1200]] Similarly, at the highest point vertically, everywhere on the blue plane except on the sun point, the sky maps to a line at the bottom, the void line/point. So the dark sky with stars are the same thing as the line of magma at the bottom of the world. ![[cube void mapping.png|1200]] Thus, it physically cycles vertically, but with some weird warpings happening. Space-time is distorted and exotic at these places. Note that the void-line is 1 dimensional and the sky roof is 2 dimensional, this explains why it is mostly dark with some bright spots of magma. More on this in section [[world topology#The Void line]]. More on the sun-point under [[world topology#The Sun point]]. ### The bottom After the [[2. the Dimensional Shear|Dimensional Shear]], matter condensed at the bottom of the world (and into the Aether too!), which makes a ground level for Materia and [[Ætheria]] (and inbetween). ## The Void line I expect the void line to be cold, since energy is lost in the void (i.e. as matter that falls in like meteorites and stars being magma radiations in the sky that comes from the magma around the void line.) ### Tectonic effects of the void line Therefore, over the void-line, magma activities will do the opposite of convection: it will spiral downward towards the void line. Tectonic plates thus spiral inward, forming either one or two subduction zone. A subduction zone: ![[subduction zone.jpeg]] If there are two subduction zones facing one another, maybe an evergrowing mountain line would grow? ![[double_indip_subduction.png]] Or apparently, a plateau? A plateau if the convection is stable and we have two subduction lines. But the way I see it, it would be more like a chaotic tectonic line. Thus, I imagine a sharp mountain range. After all, the same pattern has been followed since the beginning of the world, and the plateau would've ended gigantic by then. If otherwise there is a single subduction zone that keeps changing side, it would make the mountain range even more chaotic and sharp. ![[subduction_zone_reversal.png]] Thus, in the middle of the everdark zone, a gigantic mountain range stands over the void line. ## The Sun point The sun is a point. That is, it's not like on Earth where the Sun is a circle, with visible width. No, it's a point, and light that passes through it is slightly diffracted, giving it the appearance of a spotlight that doesn't shine on the whole world. The sun-point projects light, like the Sun does. It comes from the intense heat from the magma at the bottom of the world. Remember, the whole bottom floor of the world maps to the sun. Here is a view of the theoretical (and misguiding) torus and a cube view of the world with the sun casting light. ![[cube-beigne soleil projection.png]] ## World rotation The sun doesn't rotate, it's a point fixed in the sky. However, the ground does, giving birth to days. From the cube point of view, the ground flows eastward. From the torus point of view, the ground flows inside the whole. Weird. ![[cube-beigne soleil rotation.png]] I placed the sun away from the torus, so that a part of the torus never sees light (land of Monsters? :D). The sun could be place somewhere else for different results. > [!question] > Is there Coriolis effect? since it is due to the curvature of the earth, and this world is flat. But the ground is actually moving... ## The world acts as an infinite hourglass Magma that percolates the void-line falls from the sky as meteorites. After millennia's, or maybe millions of years, the matter is renewed by flowing into the void-line and down on earth. This makes earthquakes very frequent and powerful ( as well as tsunamis ). It percolates not just in Materia, but in other places in along the aethereal dimension. So the land is not always the same on ground level because of falling rocks. > [!question] How does it percolates? A point should not let pass anything that have volume. > oh! oh! it permeates through quantum jumps! Particles that jump through the pinhole remain affected by the forces through the anomalous void-line. Thus, they remain clumped to the "ceiling", by gravity, creating droplets of magma. > [!idea] > There are ancient civilizations that were engulfed whole into the ocean in massive tectonic land slide. Some that were destroyed and covered under celestial rocks. Many dug into mountains and the ground to seek refuge from the meteors. ## Unexplained phenomena > [!question] What are the conditions for an object to act as a soul anchor? Must it be magical? Tied to the being that died? > Soul possession/fusion. A rare kind of magic. ![[the Aethereal dimension and the magic system]]
